Unfortunately, there is not! Modern shingles have copper in them which makes them Algae resistant. This will help with moss, because moss likes to grow on algae, but if you have lived in Oregon for any amount of time, you know that moss can grow on almost anything.

A clean roof is a happy roof. One of the biggest things you can do to prevent moss growth is to keep dirt and debris off of your roof. Dirt will collect water and cause moss to start growing. Depending on how much debris your roof collects will determine how often you should blow it off.

Most homeowners should be fine treating their roof once a year, but this depends on how much debris and how much shade your roof lives in. If you live in a heavily treed area, your best bet is to keep the debris off. Not only will this attract moss growth, but when debris piles up, it can create dams and cause water to move under your shingles, leading to rot.

No! Please don’t do this. Pressure washing your roof can wash the granules away from your shingles, which will cause your roof to deteriorate prematurely. The moss should be gently scraped or brushed off, avoiding damaging the shingles in any way.
